My journey into property has taken many turns but one thing has remained constant – my love and understanding of the Birmingham market. Having graduated with a marketing and business management background, I worked briefly in mortgage acquisitions before starting out in Birmingham in the early 2000s at a time when the modern version of City Centre living was born. I was fortunate enough to be involved in the original launches of key developments, experiencing great success with a business that always put the customer first. Enjoying rapid growth to become Birmingham’s market-leading letting agent, I gravitated to a role looking after other key city operations across Manchester, Leeds, York and Liverpool. Birmingham is going through what many are referring to as a ‘renaissance period’. No surprise that it’s now considered to have the highest standard of living in the UK. Figures show it growing faster than any other UK city, with greater levels of foreign investment. In addition to migration, many young Birmingham residents who would previously have moved away are now staying to capitalise on the renewed employment opportunities and high standard of living on offer. To be involved in this new wave of growth is something we relish. In such a fast moving, diverse marketplace, I believe that constantly evolving our approach whilst focusing on serving and educating our customers is vital. Having spent many a happy weekend as a child exploring the beautiful Cotswolds, my dream home would be an old farmhouse, lovingly restored with sympathetic modern touches. It would have views across wonderful countryside, along with heated garages and a mezzanine live-in area so that I could spend time tinkering with the cars and bikes. An amazing pub serving local produce (and good cake) would be a stone’s throw away.
